LED linear tubes come in three types:
- Type A (Ballast Compatible) - requires a flourescent ballast installed in the fixture. This type is ideal for retrofitting old fixtures without rewiring them.
- Type B (Ballast Bypass) - uses line voltage wired directly to one or both ends, depending on the lamp. No ballast required, and existing ballasts need to be removed or bypassed.
- Type AB (Hybrid) - Can be wired either way. Usually costs more than the other types but they are more future-proof since they can do both.
