This is both a regular light fixture as well as an emergency light. Continuous power is required to keep the battery charged, so we do not recommend installing this light on a switched circuit, for example.
The regular lighting will be on as long as power is connected, and in the event power is lost, the battery backup will provide illumination for another 90 minutes after loss of power.
