Hi, thank you for your question. Yes this is made to fit on a 3" post. The LED has many options for your needs 3000K, 4000K or 5000K for the warm to daylight white as well as different options for wattage to produce the lumen output that you need. 36W - 5,400lm (150W MH Equiv.) 45W - 6,750lm (175W MH Equiv.) and 54W - 8,100lm (250W MH Equiv.)
