Thank you for asking about the Keystone KTEB-240-1-TP ballast. This is a common point of confusion when switching to LED lighting!
You are correct that this ballast can power certain LED replacement tubes, but it is entirely determined by the tube's design:
-
Type A (Ballast-Compatible/Plug-and-Play): These tubes are engineered to detect the existing fluorescent ballast (like your KTEB-240-1-TP) and draw power directly from it. If you select a Type A tube, you must verify that its manufacturer explicitly lists the KTEB-240-1-TP on its approved compatibility list. If it's not listed, we cannot guarantee it will work safely or correctly.
-
Type B (Ballast-Bypass): This is the most common kind of modern LED tube. These tubes are designed to be wired directly to the line voltage (120V) and will not work with the ballast installed. If you purchase a Type B tube, you must completely remove the KTEB-240-1-TP ballast from the fixture.
To proceed, you must decide between a plug-and-play Type A tube (which requires a compatibility check) or a direct-wire Type B tube (which requires ballast removal).
