Great question—and you’re right to be cautious. How the Bulbrite 773273 – 7" LED Round Disc Light comes out depends on how it was originally installed. There are two common installation methods:
1) Surface-Mounted to a Junction BoxIf this disc light was surface-mounted directly to a ceiling junction box:
-
Do not pull straight down on the outer white trim.
-
First, twist the center clear lens counter-clockwise (about a quarter turn). The lens will come off.
-
Once the lens is removed, you’ll see the mounting screws holding the fixture to the junction box.
-
After loosening those screws, the fixture will come down safely.
-
The CCT selector switch is located inside and can be adjusted at that point.
If it was installed as a retrofit into an existing recessed (can) light:
-
The entire fixture pulls straight down, but do this gently.
-
It is held in place by spring clips above the ceiling.
-
Support the fixture with one hand while easing it down to avoid stressing the wiring.
-
Once lowered, you’ll see the CCT selector switch on the back of the fixture.
-
The center clear lens does NOT come out first on retrofit installs—only on surface-mounted installations.
-
If there’s resistance when pulling down, stop and check which mounting method was used.
-
Power should be turned off at the switch or breaker before adjusting anything.
If you’re unsure which method was used, starting by gently twisting the lens is the safest first step.
